Why We Sing Barbershop

If you love to sing, you’ll love those ringing barbershop chords. Come on down and ring some with us. You'll be hooked!

You don't need to be the next American Idol, just share a passion for singing. Barbershopping is a part-time craft practiced by regular Joes who for a few hours a week get to be celebrities followed by adoring fans. But after we leave a chapter meeting or performance, we hang up our costumes and put on our shirt and tie or fireman' s helmet or a Home Depot apron and blend in with the rest of the world.

This is video-in-progress of several dreamers who set out to become etched in history as International Champions of Barbershop Singing at the 2006 Barbershop Harmony Society Convention. It's very interesting, and can give you a better feel for that style of a cappella music we call barbershop. So push aside your straw hats and striped vests because these are not your grandparents’ quartets. It’s well worth the five minutes, and you’ll surely leave humming this American Harmony. so sit back, turn up the speakers, and enjoy!
